Flybe gains ILM Approval

15th February 2010

We are pleased to announce that Flybe has gained approval to act as a centre for the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM), in addition to being a centre for City and Guilds.

This new approval will allow us to deliver the ‘ILM Level 3 Award in Leadership & Management’ to employees who undertake the Flybe Leader programme. This level 3 qualification covers complex theory and gives learners the ability to gain or apply a range of knowledge, skills and understanding at a management level. The natural progression from this qualification is the Foundation Degree in Leadership and Management or Airside Operations Management.

Behind the scenes, HR and the Training Academy have been working on embedding the ILM qualification into the current Flybe Leader course, which has been rolled out to almost 100 members of our management team during the last two years.

Flybe are very proud to have achieved ILM centre approval, following the successful approval from City & Guilds to deliver the Cabin Crew NVQ programme. This is an important step in continuing our commitment to up-skill our workforce.

Thanks go to Liz Lyden (HR) and Hayley Bentley (Training Academy) for their instrumental role in helping to gain ILM approval.

Simon Charles, Director of HR said “This is great news for Flybe and specifically for the Flybe leader programme that we have worked so hard on delivering with our partners “Rock the Boat”. I am pleased that despite the deepest recession in living memory, the Board continue to support developing our people to their potential and that this is being externally recognised”.
