Technical Training
The Flybe Training Academy offers a wide choice of maintenance training packages, designed to enable delegates to carry out effective line and base maintenance tasks. We are an EASA Part 147 training organisation and our training meets federal regulatory requirements. We offer aircraft type training and all of our courses are examined in-house for your convenience.
Training is delivered by our dedicated and highly experienced team of instructors, who are able to deliver courses either at our Training Academy in the UK or at a suitable customer location.

We deliver Part 147 approved type courses for the following aircraft types:

Engine Ground Run training
The Flybe Training Academy offers a one day Engine Ground Run and Taxi course in a flight simulator aimed at licensed engineers operating either the Embraer 190 series or Bombardier Dash-8 Q400 aircraft.
The course enables delegates to gain the necessary knowledge, confidence and experience in order to become competent in all aspects of Ground Running and taxiing of their chosen aircraft type. Delegates will also gain experience in a range of other areas such as:
- Operation of the Audio System
- Basic Communications
- Marshalling Signals
- Taxiing Awareness
- Airport Signage
- Weather Restrictions
The one day course consists of one and a half hours classroom based training and four hours of practical training. Please contact us for further details.
Structured On-the-Job training packages
The Flybe Training Academy offers EASA approved Structured On-the-Job training at designated line stations and our maintenance base at Exeter, for licensed engineers who have completed an approved type course.
Our OJT packages are carried out by experienced certifying licensed engineers and are available on both the Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 and the Embraer 170/190 aircraft at the following stations:
- Exeter (EXT)
- Manchester (MAN)
- Birmingham (BHX)
- Southampton (SOU)

Troubleshooting, Common Defects & Reset Procedures Training
Operating as part of Flybe - the World's largest operator of the Dash-8 Q400, the Flybe Training Academy is pleased to now offer a one day course covering common defects and reset procedures for new and existing Q400 operators - providing the essential knowledge to minimise aircraft downtime.
The course has been designed by and will be delivered by highly experienced Q400 Licenced Engineers with both base and line maintenance experience and the content can even be tailored towards specific aircraft operations. Courses are available on request and can be delivered either at customer facilities or the Flybe Training Academy in the UK. Please contact our sales team for further details.
